McConnell Dowell Sand Collection

Project Summary:

• IBS was commissioned to provide a system for Sand Collection for the Adelaide Living Beaches project. The purpose of the system was to screen sand and create a slurry to be transferred to different beaches for remediation.
• Sand is collected by Front End Loader and deposited into a hopper with integral grate to remove large lumps. A Belt Feeder then transfers the sand to an inclined belt which conveys into a Trommel. The Trommel removes seaweed and other contaminants and the screen sand falls into the sand slurry hopper. Sea water is pumped into the slurry hopper and mixed ready for pumping away.
• All equipment had to be designed to be quickly and easily erected and dismounted for transport by truck to different
  beaches around Adelaide.
